UPS, a global leader in logistics and courier services, recently announced the expansion of its electric vehicle fleet in Romania, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable practices and reducing its carbon footprint worldwide.
According to company representatives, UPS has added 20 new electric vehicles to its Romanian fleet, serving major cities such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Iași, and Constanța. This strategic investment aims to enhance operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
World Media Trans (WMT), UPS’s logistics partner, operates these vehicles within the national network. WMT ensures operational efficiency and fleet maintenance, contributing to reducing environmental impact. The new vehicles, with a range of 330 km and a load capacity of 1,400 kg, provide an eco-friendly alternative for daily deliveries.
WMT is a trusted partner of UPS, specializing in logistics and transport, contributing to the implementation of sustainable solutions in the courier sector. With extensive experience in operating electric vehicles, WMT plays a crucial role in optimizing and efficiently managing the fleet.
Environmental and Community Impact
The new electric vehicles are designed to deliver high performance and reliability, with a range of up to 250 kilometers on a single charge. By replacing traditional fossil fuel vehicles, UPS estimates an annual CO2 emission reduction of over 200 tons, significantly improving air quality in congested urban areas.
In addition, the use of electric vehicles will significantly reduce noise pollution, providing additional benefits to local communities and creating a more pleasant and healthier urban environment.
UPS’s Commitment to Sustainability
This expansion is part of UPS’s strategic plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, aligning with global climate change mitigation objectives. The company constantly invests in green technologies and innovative solutions to improve energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
“We are committed to implementing sustainable solutions in our global operations. Expanding the electric vehicle fleet in Romania is an important step in our efforts to provide high-quality services while respecting the environment and contributing to the well-being of the communities we serve,” said John Smith, UPS Regional Director for Eastern Europe.
Future Collaborations and Investments
UPS is working closely with local authorities and infrastructure partners to develop the network of charging stations needed to support the extended electric fleet. The company also plans further investments in technology and professional training to optimize the use of electric vehicles and improve customer service.
